What Is TBI?

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is the result of a severe or moderate force to the head, where physical portions of the brain are damaged and functioning is impaired.

TBI can be caused by any number of traumatic injuries including car accidents, combat blasts, severe seizure, or stroke.  Symptoms of TBI include: fatigue, headaches, memory issues, poor attention or concentration, dizziness, and irritability and emotional disturbances.  Depression is also very common with TBI.

In addition, depending on the cause, TBI can cause physical disabilities, including loss of motor function, speech impairment, and vision impairment.

If you have experienced a traumatic head injury and are concerned about symptoms, physical or emotional, please contact your health care professional.
